“Everyone is invited” is the message on the Mapleton Lions Hall. Above the message is the announcement of the second annual Community Thanksgiving Feast to be served at the Mapleton Lions Hall on Thanksgiving Day.
Dinner will be traditional with turkey and dressing and all the fixings. Darcy and Bob McBay are cooking and hosting the dinner. The food will be prepared and cooked across the street at their Mapleton Diner. The meal will be served at the Mapleton Lions Hall by many community volunteers.
Darcy and Bob ask that Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill friends and neighbors come and celebrate Thanksgiving with each other at the Lions Hall. This meal is free and open to all in the tri-town community. However if you wish to support this special community event, there will be a jar for donations. Donations are not required but they will help.
Also, home delivered meals will be made to folks who are unable to come to the hall and shut-in their homes. To order food for a shut-in living in the Mapleton, Chapman or Castle Hill area or to volunteer, call Darcy McBay at 207-554-6350.
Remember “Everyone is invited,” including young and older folks, individuals living alone, empty nesters or whole families. If you live in the tri-community area, you are invited.
Chicken pie supper
Mapleton is a town of wonderful community dinners. The Mapleton United Methodist Church’s chicken pot pie supper was a terrific meal. Last Saturday, Nov. 9, the church’s annual fall chicken pot pie supper was held.
For many years, the centerpiece of the meal has been the chicken pot pies made by Marie Bagley. Along with the full meal chicken pie, squash and peas, there were multiple variations of delicious apple crisp for dessert. No tickets for supper were sold as the church asked for donations, which were accepted at the door. The donations totaled more than $450, which was given to Homeless Services of Aroostook, which operates the Sister Mary O’Donnell Emergency Homeless Shelter.
The church wishes to thank all who came for supper and made a donation for homeless services. The delicious meal and the diners’ donations were made more enjoyable as Mapleton’s favorite son, Wendell Hudson ended the evening with his personal testimony in both words and song.
Church harvest supper
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the West Chapman Advent Christian Church will serve their annual harvest supper at the church.
The menu will consist of ham, turkey and all the fixings along with assorted homemade pies for dessert. Donations will be collected before the supper with all donations used to cover expenses in the ongoing construction at the church that will enable handicap accessibility to all areas of the church.
Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the scrumptious feast that will be prepared the members of the church.
Also Maralee Gardiner wanted members and regular attenders to remember that Sunday, Nov. 24, will be the final day to bring your filled shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child program. We are looking forward to sending these wonderful gift boxes to the children who have tremendous needs. Thanks for everyone’s support.
Mapleton Daze auction

An Afternoon at the North Pole
Santa Claus is coming to town — Mapleton, that is.
The second December Mapleton Daze Fundraising event is planned for the enjoyment of kids. The committee will be hosting “An Afternoon at the North Pole” at the Mapleton Lions Hall on Dec. 14, starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 4 p.m.
Grab the kids and come to the Mapleton’s Lions Hall as it will be transformed into the North Pole. The Mapleton Daze Committee Elves will host crafting activities, cookie decorating, a holiday movie with popcorn, and rumor has it that the big guy himself, Santa, will be stopping by to see if the kids have been naughty or nice and take pictures with them.
As this is a fundraiser for Mapleton Daze 2020, the committee is asking for suggested donations of $5 for each child or a family max bundle (of four or more people) of $20.
