UM-Presque Isle fills three leadership positions

    PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle has filled three key leadership positions in time for the new academic year. Campus officials recently welcomed Dr. Michael E. Sonntag as the vice president for academic affairs, Christine Corsello as the dean of students and Dr. Reginald Nnazor as chair of the School of Education.     Sonntag comes to the University from Lander University in Greenwood, S.C., where he was an associate professor of psychology, chair for the Department of Psychology and director of assessment and planning. During his career, Sonntag has delivered numerous papers, and had many journal articles and book reviews selected for publication. He is also a consultant for PML, Inc., a human resource and management consulting firm.
    Sonntag received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology, with emphasis in developmental psychology, and his M.A. in clinical psychology from the University of Arkansas. He received a bachelor of arts in psychology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
    Corsello, dean of students, has spent the last three years as a private higher education consultant and an independent referencer and interviewer for a higher education executive search firm. She has served as the dean of students and chief student affairs officer at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, Mass., as the director of residence life and later as the associate dean of students at Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Mass., and as the area director at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.
    Corsello received her master’s degree in counseling, with a student personnel emphasis, from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. She received a bachelor of arts degree in community recreation with a sports emphasis from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
    Nnazor, chair of the School of Education, comes to the University from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., where he was an associate professor and chair in the Department of Educational Administration and Counseling. Prior to this position, Nnazor was an assistant professor and the coordinator for the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) at Kentucky State University.
    Nnazor is a member and founder of Nnazor Education and Community Development Foundation (NECODEF). NECODEF is a duly registered philanthropic organization, actively facilitating literacy and adult education, as well as integrated rural and community development projects in southeastern Nigeria.
    Nnazor received his Ph.D. in higher education and his master’s in educational administration from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and a bachelor of arts in education/English from the University of Nigeria.
