3-Day Outlook: Wed. May 29 – Fri. May 31

A closed upper low to our north will pull a secondary cold front ahead of an upper level trough across the Valley today with a chance of showers this morning. Little additional rainfall is expected to occur today. Partly cloudy skies to mostly clear skies are expected tonight as the upper low drifts towards the Maritimes. Highs Wednesday look to be near the middle 60s with overnight lows falling into the mid-to-upper 30s, mainly west of Highway 11; however, patchy frost may occur in colder northwestern Maine valleys Thursday morning.

For Thursday, mostly sunny skies are expected as surface high pressure over the Great Lakes spreads east. Partly cloudy skies are expected Thursday night with only a very slight chance for precipitation. Highs are expected in the middle 60s Thursday with overnight temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s, so frost is less likely a concern for Thursday night into Friday morning.

Surface high pressure slides from the Great Lakes towards the Mid-Atlantic as the day progresses and the upper trough begins to shift further east over the course of the day. An isolated shower cannot be ruled out, thanks to the trough, however, mostly sunny skies are expected for much of the day. Highs top out in the mid-60s with mostly clear skies Friday night with lows in the lower 40s.

Daily Summary

Today: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers this morning, then partly sunny this afternoon. Highs in the mid-60s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 30s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph in the evening, becoming light and variable.

Thursday: Sunny in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the mid-60s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the upper 30s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

4-7 Day Outlook: Sat. June 1 – Tue. June 4

Currently, high pressure looks to build across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern US through the weekend. This will produce mostly sunny/mostly clear skies across the Valley through Sunday.

Forecast model uncertainty increases after Sunday with questions regarding large scale weather patterns and their affect on local weather condition. Presently, mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of afternoon showers are expected Monday with daytime highs climbing into the low 80s.

Partly cloudy skies continue Monday night with lows in the middle 50s. Tuesday looks partly cloudy with a high in the mid-80s and a slight chance for afternoon showers. Partly cloudy skies remain over the area Tuesday night with a low in the mid-50s and a slight chance of showers.
