The FFA American Degree is the highest level of recognition that can be bestowed upon a member of the organization. The prestigious American Degree, earned by only approximately 1% of members, signifies an unwavering dedication to the National FFA Organization even beyond one’s high school graduation. This year, Maine is proud to recognize Ryder W. Brewer as a National FFA American Degree recipient.

Brewer, former member of the Mars Hill FFA Chapter, was announced as a 2025 American Degree recipient on Aug. 15, one of only 108 students in Maine FFA history to receive such an honor. Brewer, a 2023 graduate of Central Aroostook High School, was an active member of his FFA chapter throughout school.

“My FFA experience was one of the highlights of both my junior high and high school careers” stated Brewer.

During his time in the blue jacket, Brewer enjoyed competing in a variety of CDEs but especially enjoyed the horse and dairy cattle evaluations. After being an active member throughout middle school and establishing himself within the tight-knit community of the Mars Hill FFA Chapter, he decided to take his leadership even further. By graduation, Brewer had served as the historian, parliamentarian, vice president and president of his chapter. After many years of serving his home chapter, Brewer eventually took his leadership skills state-wide as he served as the 2020-21 state secretary and treasurer.

After graduating from high school, Brewer continued his education at Thomas College in Waterville, pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

“The lessons learned from my time in FFA have made a profound impact on my life thus far, and I am sure they will continue to shape my outlook and career” reported Brewer.

This December, he will graduate with a double major in business administration and analytics as well as a double minor in pre-law and finance. Upon the completion of his bachelor’s degree, Brewer hopes to continue his education by either attending law school or obtaining his masters in business administration.

Brewer will be honored at the 98th annual National FFA Convention and Expo this October for his excellent work and unwavering dedication to the organization. On behalf of The Maine FFA, congratulations, Ryder!             For more information about the Maine FFA please contact State Liaison Emily Doughty at emily.doughty@maine.gov or Jillian McLaughlin at jmclaughlinmeffa@gmail.com.
