Presque Isle is the place to be

To the editor:

Having coffee Saturday morning after a windy night before, I glanced out our living room window to see something during the night had changed our neighborhood.  A large part of a large tree had broken off and was blocking Epworth Street extension in both directions, right at the end of our yard.

No one was there, but right out of nowhere came a bright black Chevy truck. The driver got out, took one look, went to his tailgate pulled out a large chainsaw.  With some quick cuts he and another gentleman started cleaning up, along with help of someone from Public Works.  They lugged, pushed and kicked and never stopped until the mess was completely cleaned up.

The quickness of our citizens to clean up some of nature’s messes is why I love living in Presque Isle for over 50 years. Presque Isle is the place to be, even in the winter, especially with the Nordic Center reopening.
