Holiday festivities get under way

The Women’s Ministries of the Easton Wesleyan Church would like to honor you this holiday season by providing a FREE and safe place for your children (ages 1 year to grade 5) while you choose to do any of the activities mentioned; shop, dine out, clean your house, wrap presents, rest, visit with friends or family or do absolutely nothing.With the help of many volunteers they have picked Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the church. Children in grades 1 to 5 will be leaving the church promptly at 11:45 a.m. to attend a Christmas presentation at the Francis Malcolm Science Center. They will be returning to the church at 2:30 p.m. Transportation is provided by the church. The children will then participate in activities at the church until 3:30 p.m. Children 1 to 4 years of age will be staying at the church with activities for all children including a special visitor, balloons, food, candies, crafts, tree decorating, etc. In order to prepare for this event, we need for you to pre-register your children by filling out a form obtained from the church and mailing it back to: Easton Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 15, Easton, ME 04740 or calling the church at 488-6874 or Pastor Dee at 498-6438. You could also e-mail eastonwesleyan@verizon.net.
American Legion Post 187 will be hosting a potluck Christmas social on Monday evening, Dec. 10, for members and significant others. Everyone is asked to bring a main dish, dessert, side dish, baked goods or a beverage. Supper will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall and transportation will be available if needed. Please call James Ireland at 551-1444 by Dec. 3 if you plan on attending and tell him what you might bring for the potluck.
The senior citizens of Easton are invited to a special Christmas dinner at the Easton Elementary School cafeteria on Thursday, Dec. 13, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The seniors will return to the West Ridge Manor rec room after dinner for a Yankee Swap.

Congratulations
Congratulations to those young people who made the first-quarter honor roll at Easton Jr./Sr. High School. The senior on Highest Honors is Molly White, High Honors: Brittney LaFrance, and Honors: Matt Blodget and Amanda Weeder. Juniors – Highest Honors: Sam Bacon, Katrina Martin and Bradley Trask; Honors: C.J. Beaton, Kilynne Beaulieu, Megan Bradley and Ariana Myshrall. Sophomores – Highest Honors: Kaitlin Bennett and Lisa Dayringer; High Honors: Luke Fuller and Corey White; Honors: Nicholas Ambrose. Freshmen – Highest Honors: Jacob Bacon and Sydney Trask, High Honors: Zachary Clark and Samantha Fuller, Honors: Taylor Lawrence.

Hospitalized
Harold (Had) Ireland was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center by ambulance the day after Thanksgiving after collapsing at his apartment at West Ridge Manor. He will be sent to the convalescent part of a health care facility as soon as there is an empty bed in Presque Isle, Caribou, Van Buren or Houlton.
Elvira McAdam has been moved to the convalescent unit at the Presque Isle health care facility after spending some time at The Aroostook Medical Center following a fall at her apartment in West Ridge Manor.

Easton Rec calendar
Wednesday, Dec. 5: Junior activities at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Senior exercise at the manor – 1p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 6: Seniors Lunch and Movie Day. The movie shown will be the newer version of “Miracle on 34th Street.” 11 a.m. at the recreation room at the manor. Lunch and popcorn will be provided but please bring your own beverage.
From 3-3:50 p.m. Group A will have a karate class at the hall; 4-5 p.m. Group B karate class at the hall.
Friday, Dec. 7: Junior activities at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m.
Little Bears cheerleading practice 2:45-4 p.m. at the cafeteria in the elementary school.
Saturday, Dec. 8: First annual Clothing and Sports Gear Swap at 9 a.m.-noon at the elementary school cafeteria. Please bring any unwanted outdoor gear and sports equipment, in great condition, to the elementary school cafeteria on Friday, Dec. 7, from 2-3:30 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8:30-9 a.m. This is a great opportunity to give items that your children have grown out of to younger ones and possibly pick up an item of use for your own family.
Little Bears grades 1 and 2 practice from 9-10 a.m. Little Bears grades 3 and 4 practice from 10-11:15 a.m. Grade 5 and 6 girls practice from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Grade 5 and 6 boys practice from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 10: There will be an informational session for seniors on the new passport laws and help with filling out the paperwork if you are interested in getting one. This will take place at the manor recreation room at 11 a.m.  Please bring a dish to share with the group for lunch.
Christmas gift making from 2:45-4:30 p.m. at the hall. You must already be pre-registered for this event.
Tuesday, Dec. 11: Y.A.P. meeting during lunch in the elementary school cafeteria.
December Birthday Party from 2:45-4:30 p.m. at the hall. Open to children grades 1-6. Come help us celebrate.
