‘08 C.A.N.C.E.R. golf tourney

    PRESQUE ISLE – An opportunity has arisen for golfers to test their skills while benefiting those in need at the 10th annual C.A.N.C.E.R. Golf Tournament at the Presque Isle Country Club on Saturday, June 7.     C.A.N.C.E.R., with offices in Ashland, Caribou, Fort Fairfield and Presque Isle, serves Aroostook County cancer patients and their families. Services include assistance with medication and travel costs as well as providing food. All proceeds from the tournament go directly to C.A.N.C.E.R. and remain in Aroostook.
    Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament is a four-person scramble format with gross and net prizes for both men and women.
    The team entry fee is $200, and includes 18-holes of golf, games with prizes, team mulligan, hot dogs and soda.
    A hole-in-one at number eight will win a $10,000 prize. Some other par three holes will offer auxiliary prizes for a hole-in-one.
    All team members must have a current handicap card. Any team not able to provide a card for each member will only compete for the gross prize. Each team must have a minimum handicap of 40.
    Entry fees must be mailed before May 30 to Alexis Madore, 57 Canterbury Street, Presque Isle.
    Checks must be made payable to C.A.N.C.E.R.
