CARIBOU – Presque Isle softball took their revenge on the Vikings for the mid-season loss with a 10-5 victory over their rivals on Tuesday, June 3. The Wildcats scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to run away with the win.
“We managed to mix some hits in around a couple of walks, and we kept it going,” commented head coach Alan Curtis on the key inning.
Amy Grivois singled for two runs in the sixth. Allisen Donovan and Kayla Legassie both hit two singles and one RBI for PIHS.
The win brought the Wildcats to 13th in the Heal Points and secured a preliminary game with John Bapst yesterday. No scores were reported at presstime.
Presque Isle baseball finished their season against Caribou on June 3. The Vikings only allowed four hits for a 7-0 shutout. Steve Ford singled twice for PIHS.
CAHS just tops Tigers
Central Aroostook baseball scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to take their 10th win of the season in their game with Fort Fairfield on June 3, 3-2.
Panther Manny Martinez singled to bring in teammate Cameron York for the game-winning run. Martinez also captained defense from the pitcher’s mound, striking out six while allowing seven hits and one walk. Logan McCarthy singled three times, and Kasey Brewer doubled and singled.
Tiger Austin Dufour doubled and singled for FFHS.
Central Aroostook played Deer Isle-Stonington in their preliminary yesterday, and Fort Fairfield met with Wisdom. No scores were reported at presstime.
CAHS softball also came out on top, 18-16, in their contest with Fort Fairfield. Sarah Long hit a homer, two singles and tallied eight RBIs for the victors. Kristen Long hit three singles and four RBIs, and Latisha Neece posted a double and two singles.
Tiger Amber Watson led Fort Fairfield with a home run, and Kelly Lynch hit an RBI single.
The Panthers and Tigers had another rematch in yesterday’s preliminary. No scores were reported at presstime.
