Mike Willette, good for Augusta, great for PI

To the editor:
Mike Willette served his country in the U.S. Army as a combat medic in the first Iraq War. With his military background and broad experience, Mike Willette could easily have lived anywhere in the world, but he returned to Presque Isle – the town where he was born and raised – to teach science, then with his friend Rick, start their own real estate business.     Mike Willette has cared about Presque Isle his entire life. Mike has a good education, but he’s also worked as a mechanic and laborer, a firefighter, and boss. When Mike Willette goes to Augusta, his real world experience will make Mike a very strong voice for Presque Isle in Augusta.
Mike is the kind of guy that naturally connects with people and is persuasive. Whether it’s jobs, the economy, taxes, gas and heating prices, the war in Iraq — or keeping the education of our children under local control, you can be confident Mike Willette will make a big difference. Mike’s parents are Albert and Isabelle Willette, and he has been married for 18 years to his wonderful wife Pam. They have three children who are all very talented and very bright. I know Mike cherishes good family values and he is a dedicated and loving husband and father.
You know Mike will make health care a top priority and work to ensure that retirement is meaningful and fulfilling instead of a time in life full of worry. Mike has an easy smile but, as you might expect from a combat medic, it’s a smile that conveys a determination and grit to care for those in need — and get real results decisively and forthrightly.
There are competing needs in Augusta. Aroostook County has a legislative delegation about the same size as the city of Portland alone (forget about Cumberland County). To get results Aroostook must work smart and the citizens of Presque Isle must vote smart. Aroostook County needs a leader like Mike Willette.
