IN THE CITY

    Summer ice has reminded us of a couple of situations that are common during the regular ice season. We are proud to have the trust of many parents who are unafraid to leave their children at The Forum for skating, but sometimes there are problems that can be fixed with just a little information. 

    There are times when a child must contact their parent or guardian. It is when this happens that we run into our first problem. Make sure that your child knows how to contact you or that you make the information available with the child, give the information to the ticket seller or just a note in the child’s pocket will do.
    The other problem is when the child is not picked up at the end of the sessions. Public skating sessions are set well in advance and the ending times are posted. The danger comes at night if the facility closes. If we know the child is there we will try to contact the parents but if the child has gone outside to wait we may lock up the facility and go, leaving the child outside in the cold. When you drop your children off make sure you are back to pick them up on time.
    Just these simple steps can make ice skating a safer, more enjoyable pastime for your young children.
