Town garage for Mars Hill

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.

Town councilor Todd Grass spoke about the proposed town garage that will be put to a vote on Tuesday, Sept. 11.  The proposed 70-by-100-foot garage will cost a bit above $625,000. It will have three 16-by-14-foot overhead doors and two entry doors and will be located on the northern end of the old town office site.  The north end will have a break room, an office, a bathroom and a mechanical room. There will also be a storage loft above these rooms.

This will be a steel building that meets all codes.  The old wooden town office on site will be removed, but the 1960s steel garage on site will be kept for cold storage.

There was also a public meeting on Thursday, August 23 to present the project to the public and answer any questions.
