MARS HILL, Maine — Middle school cheering squads from four communities will compete for bragging rights in the region when they gather at Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School for the Aroostook League Championships.

The event takes place Monday, Jan. 6 and will feature Caribou, Houlton, Presque Isle and host Central Aroostook. The doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the competition starts at 6:30 p.m.

Middle School routines must consist of a cheer, tumbling, jumps, stunting, dance and a pyramid section. Judges will select all-star tumblers, jumpers and a stunt team at the end of the competition.

Awards will be given to the Aroostook League champion and the runner-up, while teams with the best jumps, tumbling, stunts, dance and motion technique also will earn recognition.
