PRESQUE ISLE – When it comes to the kitchen, sometimes two chefs are better than one and a new catering and private chef service wants to prove it at your next gathering.
Take Two Chefs Catering and Private Chef Service is owned by Jan and Roger Greenleaf-Lucas, a husband and wife team with many years of culinary experience.
From England originally, the couple moved to the United States following a 45 year search for Roger’s father – World War II veteran Frank Greenleaf, who ran Greenleaf Hardware in Washburn for a number of years. Before leaving England, the husband and wife team had spent many years refining their skills in the kitchen.
“Roger gained his master chef status during his years with the British Army Household Cavalry,” said Jan Greenleaf-Lucas. “I myself am a self-taught gourmet chef and have worked mainly in private homes for many of the wealthy families in the United Kingdom.”
“Jan served as a gourmet chef for members of the British royal family, peers of the realm and government ministers,” added Roger Greenleaf-Lucas.
Since 2005, Jan’s served as chef at Rum Rapid Inn located on off the Washburn Road in Washburn.
Now the couple want to bring their culinary talents to a kitchen near you.
“We provide catering services for weddings, corporate events, company parties, meetings, brunches, barbecues, showers, holiday celebrations, family gatherings and more. We also offer our Private Chef Service for dinner parties within your home,” said Jan.
The two chefs have spent years perfecting their art and gaining recognition for their work.
“We pride ourselves in offering an honest and reliable service. Whether you are planning an intimate soiree or a large gathering, we will help you create a special event that will delight your guests and you,” said Jan.
To do that, Jan said they’ll work with clients, customizing to their personal preferences.
“Or you can select from our wide assortment of menus,” Jan continued.
Whether you’re getting married, having a baby or bridal shower, planning a business meeting or holiday celebration, Take Two Chefs is ready to make your event a stress-free success when it comes to eating – be it appetizers or a complete meal.
“We would be delighted to meet with prospective clients to discuss the details of their event and make menu suggestions or help them create their own personalized menu. From hors d’oeuvres and canapés, to barbecues and buffets, let us help make your special event a truly memorable one,” said Jan.
From salads and breads, appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts, Take Two Chefs can create a meal fit for a king.
“Our Private Chef Service provides in-home catering. We’ll come to your home in advance with all the ingredients and prepare a meal for your event. It’s up to the client whether we use our dishes or theirs, our linens and flatware or theirs. It’s also up to them whether they want a meal prepared in advance that they can warm up at a later time or if they want us to serve each course and provide the cleanup after so they’ll have more time with their guests,” said Jan.
The business can also arrange floral decorations and party gifts, if desired.
Based in the Washburn area, distance is not an issue when it comes to Take Two Chefs’ services.
“We’ll travel anywhere in Aroostook County. We’ll go wherever we’re needed,” said Roger.
“We love to travel to do this. We’ve provided our service as far away as Bangor,” said Jan. “It’s a great way to meet people.”
