11:10 p.m. Lyndon Street — Assault — Caller reported a female subject had entered her apartment and punched another female.
Action — Officer spoke with victim who decided not to pursue the issue.
Friday, April 4
12:15 p.m. Park Street — Disorderly Conduct — Police were informed of two juveniles outside the Caribou Middle School, causing a disturbance.
Action — Officer spoke to juveniles and advised them to leave school property.
4:26 p.m. — Hancock Street — Criminal Trespass — Caller reported several juveniles had entered an abandoned building.
Action — Offer determined all doors were locked and could see no one in the area.
9:28 p.m. Sweden Street — Phone Harassment — Female caller reported a female subject keeps calling her house looking for another woman who was hiding from her. Caller wants this action to cease.
Action — Officer spoke with subject who informed police that first female had been calling her all day and she had been just returning the calls. Subject was advised to stop the calls or someone would be getting charged.
Saturday, April 5
12:40 a.m. Skyway Plaza — Disorderly Conduct — An employee from a local business reported two females fighting.
Action — When officer arrived, fighting had ceased. Subjects had been arguing and there had been physical contact. First subject officer spoke with was very intoxicated. Second subject related what had taken place accusing the other of hitting her first. As a result of this altercation, friends of both parties were drawn into it. All of these individuals were also intoxicated. Business employee said she wanted them all to leave.
Officers escorted everyone out. No charges were issued.
7:15 a.m. Grimes Road — Building Check — Caller advised police while on his way to work he had noticed the old McCain’s plant had collapsed.
Action — Officer determined building had collapsed and called a local realtor who said the property had been sold to an individual from Canada. Police then notified Caribou Fire and Rescue. The sprinkler system was inoperable. Maine Public Service was also informed and they agreed to check to see if power should be shut off. Caribou City Manager was also notified. Owner stated he would have no trespassing signs placed in the area.
9:14 a.m. Hillcrest Avenue — Criminal Trespass — Caller reported he was in the process of moving into a house and a male subject contacted him advising his kids were at that address.
Action — Officers located three juveniles hiding in an attic crawl space where they had spent the night. Juveniles were advised if they returned to that address they would face arrest for criminal trespass.
11:11 a.m. Rose Street — Animal Complaint — Female caller reported her daughter hearing a pigeon in the fireplace chimney, would like assistance in removing the bird.
Action — Officer was unable to locate pigeon in flu. The bird was possible sitting on top of the chimney making the daughter think it was stuck.
12:40 p.m. East Presque Isle Road —Theft — A resident reported their mailbox missing but the base was still there. Resident advised that during the previous evening someone from a neighboring house had turned around in their driveway and may have decided to take the mailbox. Caller also informed police of a great deal of traffic that turns around in his yard and then stops at the neighbors house and typically they don’t even go into the neighbors’ house, they just pull in and someone will run into the house and right back out again. Resident told police he suspects drugs being sold from that building. Also individual felt that someone was backing out of his yard, struck the mailbox and threw it in the back of a pickup.
Action — Officer spoke with neighbor who stated that he only had one visitor during the night and identified him.
7:39 p.m. Fort Street — Suspicious Activity — Caller advised police of seeing a male subject on the Fort Bridge with one leg over the railing, after turning vehicle around to check on subject, he was on the opposite side of the bridge leaning over the railing.
Action — Officer located subject and brought him to another male’s residence who said the subject was having a bad day and he would stay with him and if there was any trouble he would call the police.
8:10 p.m. Sweden Street — Juvenile — Female caller from a local business observed a group of juveniles by the theatre area spitting on cars and smoking. A male individual with the caller had attempted to approach the group and address their behavior but he was treated with vulgar language.
Action — Police units attempted to locate subjects and address the matter. Two were located and warned about this type of behavior.
Sunday, April 6
3:07 p.m. Van Buren Road — Theft — Female advised that while she was at Cary Medical Center with a family member, she had left her purse in her vehicle. When leaving the area, she noticed the purse was missing and decided to wait until she got home before reporting the theft. Caller reported the bag contained personal information, license, cash and various prescriptions.
Action — Officer questioned why the theft was not reported immediately and individual responded she didn’t think to and then was too upset. At that time there was no way to substantiate whether this theft actually took place or not.
Monday, April 7
12:15 p.m. Washburn Street — Theft — Female caller advised she had received a notice from a finance company in California claiming she owes for a credit card, which she does not own or has she ever.
Action — Officer gave caller a telephone number to contact the credit bureau to see if they could advise her how to deal with situation.
Tuesday, April 8
1:15 p.m. Sweden Street — Juvenile — Caller reported a student drove past a pedestrian, deliberately splashing the individual. Caller requested someone talk to the juvenile.
Action – Officer spoke with vehicle operator who was advised of the complaint. Juvenile suffered loss of privilege to drive on school property for one week.
7:24 p.m. Lyndon Street — Theft — An employee from a local business advised police of a suspected shoplifter.
Action — Subject had taken off before officer arrived. Officers are trying to get description of clothing and physical build and will review the tape to try to distinguish who subject is and what was taken.
Wedmesday, April 9
92:45 p.m. Sweden Street — Motor Vehicle Complaint — Female reported nearly being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the high school, she identified the vehicle plates and requested police speak to operator.
Action — Officer will locate subject and also inform parents.
Thursday, April 10
2:25 p.m. Sweden Street — 9-1-1 Call — State Police reported a 9-1-1 hang-up call from a payphone at a local school.
Action — Police spoke with the party involved.
Friday, April 11
2 p.m. Fontaine Drive-Agency Assistance — Police received a letter from Sex Offender Registry indicating an individual was out of compliance with registering.
Action — Subject was located and charged.
2 p.m. West Presque Isle Road — Agency Assistance — Police were notified by mail of an individual out of compliance with Sex Offender Registry.
Action — Police spoke with subject advising him he was out of compliance. Subject registered the following day.
9:27 p.m. Bennett Drive — Disorderly Conduct — Female employee from a local business requested police remove several juveniles who were out in the parking lot harassing customers.
Action — Officer sent about 10 carloads of juveniles on their way.
10:20 p.m. Bennett Drive — Motor Vehicle Complaint — Caller from a local establishment reported three juveniles riding down the middle of Bennett Drive, causing cars to have to swerve around them.
Action — Officer located three juveniles on bikes behind a building and advised all three to stay out of traffic or they would be looking at paperwork in the future.
10:50 p.m. Bennett Drive — Disorderly Conduct — Female employee from local business called again advising that the juveniles were all back again blocking the driveway and disturbing customers. Caller requested officer remove individuals.
Action — Officer determined juveniles must have scanners as they were all gone by his arrival. Employee was advised to speak to business management regarding court appearance on trespass charges if need be. Police also advise employee to have management write a letter or speak with the Chief of Police to see exactly what needed to be done.
Saturday, April 12
8:48 p.m. Van Buren Road — Wellbeing Check — Female caller areported receiving a call from a male family member who was supposed to be out with his female companion, but related he had a medical issue. Caller was concerned that subject needed help, requesting police to check on him. Caller also advised that the female companion had outlived three husbands.
Action — Police checked location and found no one around, called and suggested caller try to contact individual at his residence and have local police their check if needed.
Sunday, April 13
2:30 p.m. South Main Street — Suspicious Activity — Male caller reported numerous gunshots at different intervals over the past hour just north of his location. Caller also noted he had called a year ago and was advised that it was fine to shoot in that area. He was trying to concentrate on doing some work and the gunshots were distracting him.
Action — Office advised caller the area would be checked to make sure all laws were being abided by. Officer stayed by location for a time and did not hear any gunshots.
Monday, April 14
11 a.m. High Street — Agency Assistance — Police were advised of a subject leaving money in a night deposit box, who has no account there. Requested police to return money to individual and advise him not to call or stay by the bank.
Action — Officer will deliver money and message.
Tuesday, April 15
3:45 a.m. Caribou Street Phone Harassment — Caller reported receiving threatening text messages from a male subject and requested assistance to have this action cease.
Action — Officer determined subject to be out on bail and have an active warrant from another county. Subject was arrested on violation of release and warrant and also advised to have no contact with female individual.
