Tennis team defeated

    Last Tuesday, the No. 10 Houlton High School boys’ varsity tennis team lost in preliminary action to No. 7 Madawaska, 4-1.
    The Shiretowners’ season ends at 4-9.
WINNER – Houlton’s Derek Thomas had Houlton’s only win against Madawaska last week in the tennis playoffs. Thomas topped Chris Lezotte, 6-4 and 6-2.
   In singles, Derek Thomas of Houlton had the only win over Chris Lezotte, 6-4 and 6-2. Madawaska’s Shawn Parker topped Ashir Abouleish, 6-1 and 6-0, while teammate Nate Beaulieu overtook Musa Bilal by scores of 6-0.
    In doubles, Madawaska’s Craig Cyr/Jamie Cyr were pressed, but defeated Lowell Matthews/Elliot Mooers, 6-1, 2-6 and 6-1, while Madawaska’s Jacques Daigle/Kyle Pelletier defeated Malik Abouleish/Craig Thomas by 6-2 scores.
