Image    Houlton – David Green, 82, died Aug. 1, 2008, at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1926, at Mars Hill, the son of Harley and Hazel (Dobson) Green.
    David was a member of the Houlton United Methodist Church, a proud member of the US Army serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He received several campaign ribbons and the Bronze Star. He was a potato farmer in the Bridgewater area for 10 years and was operations manager for a potato packing business in the Monticello area for many years. Dave was a substance abuse counselor with Aroostook Mental Health for over 20 years until his retirement in 1997. He received the Bob Vicker Award of Excellence while working at AMHC, this is the highest award given. David helped establish what today is known as Community Living Association. He was a special envoy to the Governor of the State of Maine, and doing background research on Pineland for the Governor. He worked at Board level with Roger Randall and CLA, and was very proud of having the Green Center named after him because of his work with them. He was a member of the ACAP Board, the CLA Board and SAD #29 School Board. His greatest love and joy was his family and he always put them ahead of himself.
    David is survived by his wife of sixty years, Audrey (Allen) Green of Houlton; two sons, Allen Green and his wife Catherine of Monticello, David Green of Houlton; his daughter, Lynn Fitzpatrick and her husband Billy of Hodgdon; seven grandchildren, David McGuire, Wendell Green, Aaron Green, Dale McGuire, Harry McGuire, Samantha Green, and Megan Fitzpatrick; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Wendell; his daughter, Rayma McGuire; five brothers; and three sisters.
    Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at the Houlton United Methodist Church Monday 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Naomi Sam’Kpakra as officiate.
