WASHBURN – The Washburn boys’ varsity soccer club begins a fresh season with a fresh coach this year.

Ben Goodwin takes over coaching responsibilities, and plans an aggressive-style of soccer to improve the previous year’s record.
“We play a 4-4-2 to try and control the middle of the field,” said Goodwin. “I look for a much more successful season than last year. We have a fairly tough schedule but our intensity on the field will be the key to our success.”
The Beavers’ 2008 starting lineup includes keeper Justin Howe, sweeper Connor Fitzpatrick, stopper Sal Viola, marking back Ethan Pendexter, marking back Anthony Viola, defensive center midfielder Zach Davis, offensive center midfielder Alex McIntosh, outside midfielder Sebastian Viola, outside midfielder Cameron Huston, forward Jordan McLaughlin and forward Nick McIntosh.
Also playing for WDHS are seniors Matt Howe, Jon Hester and Shayne Stevens; juniors Adam Wilcox and Trevor Pendexter; sophomores Chris Farley and Kyle Huston; and freshmen Jacob Reed, Chase Chandler and Mason Turner.
