ROCKPORT-The Presque Isle girls’ hockey team finished with a 3-1 record during the Mid-Coast Classic Tournament Feb. 7-8.
Presque Isle faced the Wolverines of Bridgeton in their first contest and defeated the Western Maine team 3-1. Kate Campbell slammed in three goals and Hillary Albert had two assists in the action.
Leading the Lady Wildcat defense were Brittani Ryhnold, Sophie Willette, and Whittney Michaud. Taylor Schumacker was in the net.
Presque Isle took on the girls from Auburn in their second match. Albert had a goal and an assist and Hamilton put in her first goal of the season. Schumacker again sent back the opponents’ attempts on the P.I. goal.
In their third match, P.I. took on the Casco Bay Hurricanes, taking the victory 2-0. Campbell stepped up with two goals while Albert tallied two assists. Flynn was a wall in the net with a wonderful shut out. Presque Isle had great offense from Beaulieu, Dee, Maynard, Hamilton, Campbell, Mette and Shumacker while Albert, Ryhnold, Michaud and Willette were outstanding defensively. This win took the Lady Wildcats to the finals.
In the fourth game, P.I. took on their county rivals, the Houlton Internal Medicine Girls Team. Presque Isle took a 4-1 loss. Albert had one goal and Flynn had an assist in this very exciting game.
The Lady Wildcats were the runners-up and awarded second place, while Houlton took the Mid-Coast Cup back to the county for another year.
