The Mapleton Parent Organization will be hosting a movie night at the Elementary School cafeteria Friday, Oct. 30. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the movie “Hotel for Dogs” will start at 6 p.m. Popcorn and water will be served and door prizes will be given out! Wear your pajamas and bring your blankets, pillows, or camp chairs to watch the movie in front of the big screen! The Mapleton Lion’s Club annual hunter’s breakfast will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Mapleton Lions Hall. Breakfast will be served from 4:30-8 a.m. The meal, which will consist of ham, eggs, toast, home fries, juice, milk and coffee, will be $6 for adults and $3 for children under age 12. The Club will raffle a hunting rifle and a shotgun at the breakfast. Raffle tickets are on now on sale and can be purchased from any Club member. Proceeds from the breakfast and raffle will be used for Lions charities.

Senior Citizen News
The Mapleton, Castle Hill, and Chapman senior citizens met at Maple Tree Estates with 17 members present. Anita Morin asked the blessing over the meal and lunch was enjoyed by all. A get well card was signed by those present for Rhoda Wells who is currently a patient at TAMC. President Shirley Coty presided over the business meeting and the Secretary and Treasurer’s reports were read and accepted. The group will welcome guest speaker, Mona Lynch, from the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging Nov. 2. Grenda and Shirley called five Bingo games. Lucky winners were Merle Wilcox, Anna Brigman and Ruth LaCombe. The seniors meet every Monday at 11:30 a.m. All seniors are invited to attend.
Adults are reminded that the Lions Hall, located on Main Street, is open every morning Monday through Friday from 9-11 a.m. for walking and craft time. Aerobics are held at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings. All are welcome.
Fall Bazaar
The Mapleton United Methodist Women will be sponsoring their annual fall bazaar Saturday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the church. Coffee and muffins will be on sale from 9-10:30 a.m. and a soup luncheon will be available starting at 11 a.m.
Crafts, baked goods and items from Grandma’s Attic will also be available for purchase during the day.
Mapleton Daze Supper and Auction
The Mapleton Daze Committee will be hosting its annual bean supper and auction Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Mapleton Lion’s Club hall. The bean supper, along with ham, hot dogs and coleslaw, will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. with the auction immediately following. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Bert Winslow will serve as auctioneer for the evening. Items are still being accepted. Please contact Julie Powers at 540-1097 if you would like to donate an item for the auction.
Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society
Society members will be selling VIP tickets for the Aroostook Centre Mall again this year. Tickets will be $3 and shopping will take place Sunday, Nov. 15. Special sales will be held throughout the Mall. Please see any member to purchase your tickets. All profits will benefit the Society.
The Society meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month February through November.
