Island Falls Happy Losers
The group called the Happy Losers held their weekly meeting Nov. 4 at the Congregational Church vestry in Island Falls. Jackie Pratt, our leader opened our meeting with our pledge and roll call.
We had 14 ladies weigh-in and twelve attended our class. Frances McKenney was the person who lost the most weight for the week, and Riva Hawkes and Shirley Sides were runners-up. Great job ladies!
We have another contest that will end Dec. 23. Each of us has a goal to lose a set amount of weight by that time. The Harvest Moon team is winning in our contest ending Nov 18.
Riva Hawkes led the program for the week. Her topic was an article called 120 ways to have a healthy year ever. Our winter hours have been changed weigh-ins 8:00am to 8:45am and meeting starts at 9 a.m. Call 365-4884 for more information.

Ricker Rumblings

by Lois Downing
Hello everyone! Nice sunny day here. The leaves have not left all the trees yet but it will come. Shirley Nason’s brother, Leigh Nason, has suffered a stroke. Our get-well wishes are for him. Our sympathy is extended to the family of Steve Scott, who died late in October. He was only 58. We are saddened by his death.
Have you had your flu shot? If not, are you going to? There is still plenty of time.
Happy Veterans Day to all our readers. May you all have a nice holiday.
Some of our tenants got together for a game night in the community room. Heard it was very successful. Our newest tenant is Brenda Belyea. May she have a long and happy stay at Ricker Plaza.
Elinor Schenk had company Sunday afternoon: her son Allen and his wife Jeannie from Island Falls and their grandchildren from Sherman, MacKenzie and Jada. It was a pleasant surprise.
Lots of activity downtown in the building of the apartment complex. Did you ever have a dream that so real you could not believe it was: “just a dream?” It happened to me —so real. Thanks to all the nice people who are leaving bags beside my door. Thank you very much.
Lots of church functions and sales going on. Now that Halloween is over, we are preparing for Thanksgiving.
In closing, my quote from the Bible is taken from John: 14:1, 2A: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believer in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.”
Have a nice week.
