Selander named All-New England

    Caribou junior striker Jenna Selander was recognized Sunday as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s All-New England team. The announcement came during the 36th Maine Soccer Coaches banquet, which was held at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor.
    Selander scored 18 goals and contributed nine assists during the season for the Vikings, who upset both Gardiner and Presque Isle in the Eastern Maine Class B playoff tournament before falling to Winslow in the finals. Selander scored three goals and had an assist in post-season play.
    Joining Selander on the Girls Eastern Maine State Team were Brooke Long-Postell, Chelsea Nickerson and Kayla Richards, all of Presque Isle. Others recognized were Allison Walton of Brunswick, Michaela Stephenson and Julia Snyder, both of Hampden; Jordan Pellerin of Waterville, Gabrielle Huebner of Ellsworth, Katie Deshane of Old Town, Jordyn Mallett of Winslow, Taylor Boucher of Fort Kent, Stevie Theoharidis of George Stevens, Alex Crocker and Chloe Paul, both of Orono; Katherine Bragg of Bangor Christian and Liz Goodall of Southern Aroostook.
    Casey Cobb of Ashland and Nate Ackerson and Dillon Kingsbury, both of Presque Isle, made the Boys Eastern Maine State Team along with Phil Frost and Nick George, both of Bangor; Pete Morrell and Justin Rosner, both of Brunswick; Graham Safford of Hampden, Jim Weferling of Camden Hills, Matt Duhaime and Zach Emeigh, both of Ellsworth; Thomas Levesque of Fort Kent, Nathan Beaulieu and Aaron Marquis, both of Madawaska; Paul Ohno of Orono, Charlie Gardner of Penobscot Valley, Brandon Wilcox of Bangor Christian, Matthew Little of Machias and Dakota Sleeper of Southern Aroostook.
