PRESQUE ISLE – A Woodland died after sustaining fatal injuries while working a Presque Isle storage facility on Dec. 18.
“At approximately 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, John A. Anderson, 50, of Woodland, died during a work-related accident.

Mr. Anderson was working for Cyr Construction Company, of Caribou, inside the Presque Isle Storage building on Carmichael St. in Presque Isle,” said Officer Kevin Reed, Presque Isle Police Department.
While moving heavy equipment on a second-story platform, Anderson lost his balance and fell approximately 11 feet to the concrete floor below, according to Reed.
“The piece of equipment that Mr. Anderson had been working on also fell, landing on him,” Reed said.
A co-worker working on site with Anderson called 9-1-1 and Crown Ambulance responded to the scene and found Anderson had sustained life-threatening injuries as the result of the accident.
“Mr. Anderson died as a result of his injuries while en route to The Aroostook Medical Center,” said Reed. Sgt. Joey Seeley, PIPD, contacted Occupational Safety and Health Administration staff, who are investigating the accident.”
OSHA is the main federal agency charged with the enforcement of safety and health rules and regulations. The organization regularly investigates work sites for safety concerns and handles reports of job-related injuries.
The Medical Examiner’s Office, in Augusta, was also notified, said Reed.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou, with Father Aaron Damboise officiating. Interment will be in the spring at New Sweden Cemetery.
