Ah, the Fourth of July. What a great celebration. It is coming to an end now as this is being written on Monday, July 4. The Red Sox are behind in their game with the Toronto Blue Jays being played on Monday. Hope they win. It is fun to watch them. My nieces are among the rooters in this game.
Paul and Linda Downing of Wakefield, MA were visitors of his mother, Lois Downing over the holiday weekend. I visited the park on Sunday and watched the truck pulls. I could not believe the people! This is my first experience with truck pulls. There were lots of concessions and rides at the fair and people to see.
The parade was good and enjoyed watermelon, courtesy of Andy’s IGA. Was glad to see the many volunteers to pick up the waste following the parade. Lots of vehicles in the parade, and thanks to all those who entered to give us a few minutes of viewing.
George and Harriett Garnett are new tenants on the second floor. They moved here from Minnesota but used to live here. We had a delicious cookout, sponsored by the staff on Saturday. The menu consisted of chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni salad, potato salad, watermelon, blueberries, lemonade, soda, ice cream and apple pie. It was delicious and thanks to Brian and his crew for the grilling and all those who helped.
In our Southern Aroostook Newsletter this past week it was revealed there is a need for volunteers for Friendly Visitors — just to read the newspaper for 15 minutes would help. Head Start program and Born to Read program also need volunteers in area schools. Do you have extra time on your hands? This might fill the bill for you. Keep well and safe and enjoy life. See you next week.
