Local residents are coming forward making donations toward the replacement costs for the 80 American flags/brackets that were destroyed during the two extreme rain storms in June. Recently Ben McGlinn  and Chris DeMerchant, representing the Adult Multiple Alternative Center, presented  Lister/Knowlton VFW Commander Douglas Michaud with a check from the facility to help defray some of the costs. Also making a personal donation to help purchase new flags was Don Collins, who is also a long-time member of the Lister/Knowlton Post. From left are: Michaud, Collins, McGlinn and DeMerchant. Established in May, 1947, the Lister/Knowlton VFW Post 9389 in Caribou, has been continuously responsible for making sure the flags were flying along Caribou streets  from Memorial Day through Veteran’s Day.  Now, faced with a replacement cost of  $3,500,VFW members are working diligently to be able to replace the flags as soon as possible and are grateful for any donations area residents would like to contribute to this project. To make a donation or for more information contact  Post 9389 at 498-2761.
