Little Lily of Halfway Home Pet rescue has made a full recovery after the splinting of her deformed legs. According to HHPR President Norma Milton, Lily happily welcomed herself home after her medical procedures and spent an hour a day for two weeks bonding with her new owner until Lily was ready to be transferred to her permanent home and is reportedly doing just great; Lily adores the other cat in the home and they sleep and play together as though they were littermates. HHPR volunteers will hold a Chicken barbecue at 97 Bennett Drive (Sports Inn) at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 12 during the Caribou Cares About Kids events. Rain date for the barbecue is Saturday, August 13 at 4 p.m. Additional information about the HHPR can be obtained by visiting www.halfwayhomepetrescue.org or calling 492-1722 for information about cats and kittens available for adoption.
At right, Lily is pictured with Dr. Andrea Pesut of the Presque Isle Animal Hospital as she is discharged from the hospital after her splints were removed. Lily’s legs are now perfect and she can live a full and normal life in her new home. According to HHPR President Norma Milton, the hospital staff became immensely fond of Lily and nicknamed her Paddles (because of her casts).
