Little Miss Maine Potato Queen pageant held

FORT FAIRFIELD – Little Miss Mars Hill is the new Little Miss Maine Potato Queen for 2011.

bs-littlepotsmith-dc8-arsh-29Victoria Ann Leavitt  was first runner up in the Little Miss Maine Potato Queen Pageant. Victoria is the daughter of Jill and Wade Leavitt.

Janelle Alyssa Tweedie, the daughter of Jennifer and Josh Tweedie, claimed the title in a crowded field of nine contestants on July 11 at the Fort Fairfield Middle/High School gymnasium. Janelle also was voted Miss Congeniality. For her talent the eight and half year old sang the “Lovebug Medley.”

Janelle takes the reign from Amber Dawn Morin, who in her farewell speech to the large crowd had this advice for the girls in the pageant, “Remember: Smile and be yourself and not matter what happens, you will always be winners to me.”

The first runner up was Little Miss Connor, Victoria Ann Leavitt. Victoria is the daughter of Jill and Wade Leavitt. Her talent was a humorous monologue entitled “Farmer’s Daughter.”

Little Miss Fort Fairfield, Camryn Ala, was second runner up. Camryn is the daughter of Emily and John Ala. She kicked off the talent portion of the pageant with a dance performance to the song “Cotton Eye Joe.”

In all the contestants were judged on casual wear-physical fitness, talent and formal wear. Between the talent and formal wear portions of the pageant a long line of visiting pageant winners graced the stage, all though the introductions were interrupted by a 15 second power outage.

Also competing were Little Miss Limestone, Kourtney West. Kourtney’s talent was a baton routine to the song “Yakety Yak.” She is the daughter of Rebecca and Paul West.

Little Miss Presque Isle, Madison Mae Hedrich, performed a dance routine to the song “My Boy Lollipop.” She is the daughter of Jenn and Todd Hendrich.

Olivia Lajoie, Little Miss Van Buren, sang “Good Ship Lollipop” for her talent. Olivia is the daughter of Lucas and Lisa Lajoie.

Little Miss Caribou, MacKenna Libby Smith, performed a dance routine to the song “Stuck Like Glue.” She is the daughter of Katie and Whitney Smith.

Madelyn Kay Buzza, Little Miss Mapleton, is the daughter of Jennifer and Aaron Buzza. Her talent was a vocal performance of “Nothing is Impossible with God.”

Little Miss Woodland, Brooke Haley Moir, is the daughter of Neali and Scott Moir. For the talent competition she performed a dance routine to “Rockin Robin.”
