Umpire clinic
The Northern Maine Board of Approved Baseball Umpires will hold their annual clinic for prospective umpires beginning Feb. 28 in room 108 at Northern Maine Community College. Cost of the clinic is $35, which includes a rule book and case book. Individuals must be 18 years old by May 1. For more information, contact Bill Casavant at 764-0810 or 551-5778.
Try hockey for free
Presque Isle Youth Hockey invites boys and girls ages four to eight years old from around central Aroostook County to Try Hockey for Free.
The one-hour clinic will be hosted at the Forum in Presque Isle on Saturday, Feb. 18 beginning at 8 a.m. Children can experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basics of the sport in a fun, safe environment. The first 40 children will receive a free hockey jersey.

Athletes of the Week
The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Cody Merrill and Andrew Kofstad for being selected as Presque Isle High School athletes of the week for the week of Jan. 30 – Feb. 4.
Recently recovered from a concussion, Merrill returned to the hockey team and scored goals in games against Houlton and Brewer.
Kofstad scored 20 points to lead the boys’ varsity basketball team past John Bapst.
Snow Run
The 28th annual Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 near the John Millar Civic Center in Houlton.
The Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run serves as the first race in the Aroostook Musterds County Challenge Series.
Registration for the walk/race will be held form 9:30-10:35 a.m. in the Millar Civic Center’s large function room. Cost is $10. “Musterd Mittens” will be given to the first 50 registered participants. The 3-mile walk begins at 10:45 a.m., with the 5K run following at 11 a.m.
An award ceremony is scheduled for about 11:45 a.m., with first and second place trophies for each age category for the 5K run and to the first five walkers. Special Awards include, the Mean Runner and Guts Award, along with first place award for a three-member male and female team.
