PIRCTC students
earn medals at SkillsUSA competition

PRESQUE ISLE — Presque Isle Regional Career and Technical Center’s SkillsUSA organization recently sent 47 students to the SkillsUSA State Competition in Bangor.
FORTY-SEVEN members of the PIRCTC’s SkillsUSA organization recently attended the state competition in Bangor. Among those who earned medals were, from left, front row: Dylan Elliott, Leslie Campbell, Casey Bonville, Kelsey Buck and Stacia Caron. On March 15, some members had to take a written examination about their trade as part of their competition. Later that evening, a banquet was held, followed by the opening ceremonies of the competition.
The next morning, the members went to various trade competitions ranging from masonry, photography and carpentry, to speaking and interview competitions. Closing ceremonies were held later that evening. The awards were given to the competitors.
PIRCTC received five bronze, five silver, and 10 gold medals for the competition. Those who won gold have the opportunity to go compete in Kansas City in June at the National SkillsUSA competition. Five students have decided to go to National Competition, and are busy raising money by hosting fundraisers.

ATTEND STATE CONVENTION — The Presque Isle Future Business Leaders of America at PIRCTC recently attended the state convention in Portland where they competed in individual and group testing and were judged on projects that had to be completed before the convention. Out of 10 schools from Maine, the Presque Isle FBLA received second place.
