CARIBOU — Officials and patrons of the Caribou Public Library will join others across the state by participating in “Snapshot Maine 2012 – Libraries Connect: People, Community, Jobs” today.
Officials with the Caribou Public Library explained that every day, Maine libraries reach out to thousands of Mainers – students, adults, job-seekers, researchers, entrepreneurs and countless others. Snapshot Maine 2012 provides a way to capture the diversity of activities and learning made possible by libraries.
Today, the Caribou Public Library will compile statistics, customer comments, and photographs chronicling a typical library day. The results collected at Caribou Public Library will be added to those of other libraries across Maine to demonstrate the ways that libraries provide invaluable services to Maine citizens every day.
At the Caribou Public Library, users of all ages come to the library for programming, computers use, job-seeking, genealogy researching, checking out materials, and much more. Library officials said that with the downturn of the economy, people are turning to the library more than ever before.
“Snapshot Day is a wonderful opportunity to capture the high numbers of Maine residents who use their public library on a daily basis and to feature the diverse types of use,” said Library Director Diane DuBois.
Users of the Caribou Public Library are asked to drop by the library to share their thoughts about the library.
Snapshot 2012 is a project of the Maine State Library, Maine Library Association, the Maine Association of School Libraries and the Caribou Public Library.
