MAPLETON – George E. Leavitt, Jr., 70, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born in Augusta on July 7, 1942, the son of George E. and Vera (Tillson) Leavitt Sr.
    He served in the U.S. Army. George owned and operated Discount Floor Mart in Presque Isle for many years.
    He is survived by his life’s partner, Terry Pinkham of Mapleton; six sons, Nicholas Leavitt and his fiancé, Sarah Hanley of Waterville, Jason Leavitt, Cory Leavitt and his girlfriend, Alesia Connors, all of Presque Isle, Vernon Pinkham of Warren, Aaron Leavitt of Mapleton, and Greg Reed, Benton; two sisters, Barbara Caldwell and Betty Smith, both of Augusta; several nieces and nephews.
    A graveside service with military honors was held 1 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, with Rev. Larry Palmer officiating at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com
