CARTER, Eldora Leita, 83, EASTON, November 26, 2012. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

    EASTON – Eldora Leita Carter passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, Nov. 26, at her home. Eldora was born December 14, 1928, in Dyer Brook, ME, the daughter of Perley and Leah Porter.
    Eldora graduated from Oakfield High School and the Maine Beauty Academy in Bangor. Her life was dedicated to her six children and her loving husband, Clair. She operated a small beauty shop in her home for many years. Eldora’s later years were dedicated to working with the Easton Methodist Church where she was a lay minister along with many other duties. She also spent many years as the “Easton” reporter with the Presque Isle Star Herald. Her work and support in her community will be a lasting legacy.
    Eldora is survived by Clair, her loving husband of nearly 66 years; and six of her seven children: Jeffery Carter and his spouse, Sue Gartley of San Francisco, CA, Vaughn Carter and spouse, Cheryl of Easton, ME, Andrea Celayeta and husband, Tony of Grand Junction, CO, Michael Carter and spouse, Beth of Portland, ME, Dana Carter and spouse, Kimberly of Scarborough, ME, and Wendell Carter and spouse, Doreen of Saco, ME; a brother, Darrell Porter and his wife, Norma of Gardiner, ME. Eldora was a loving grandmother to nine beautiful grandchildren, their spouses, and six great-grandchildren.
    She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Amy Louise.
    Friends and family were invited to a celebration of Eldora’s life on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Easton Methodist Church on the Station Road. There was a time of gathering and comfort at 12 noon, with the service at 1 p.m. After the service, there was “a party” (her words) at the church for friends and family to reminisce her wonderful life.
