Edmund Owen Damboise |
CARIBOU — Edmund Owen Damboise was born on Oct. 27 1931 in Caribou, where he also attended school. Damboise enlisted in the United States Army on Oct. 18, 1952 and was trained as an infantryman.
In his two years of service in the Army, Damboise attained the rank of private first class and served in Korea. His awards and decorations from the Army include the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Services Medal.
After he was honorably discharged from the Army on Oct. 17, 1954, Damboise worked as a foreman for General Ford Auto Manufacturing. He also worked for Birdseye and in construction.
Prior to moving into Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou in 2002, Damboise was living in Caribou. He has one son, Orrick, who lives in the area and visits him regularly at the home. Damboise’s sister, Patsy, also lives nearby and visits often.
At the home, Damboise enjoys attending mass and communion services. He also has taken a special interest in the clergy visits and appreciates one-on-one conversations with the friends he has bonded with. He is a frequent participant in any of the musical programs the home hosts.
