Ricker Rumblings

Happy after the Fourth of July. The rains held off for the big parade. As usual, the lawn was covered with people watching and the parade, always good, lasted about 50 minutes. We had two bands, McGill’s and Houlton Southside School and many, many tractors, some dating back to 1944, comedians, circus people, horses, watermelon givers and candy givers, and on and on. Thank you for those who participated and gave of your time to bring us this parade.

Donnie and Sylvia Thompson have become great-grandparents of a baby girl, born July 3. Bob and Betsy Thompson are the very proud grandparents. You may have seen Bob and his granddaughter Nora Jane on Facebook around the world, Megan and Mike Dehaven are the parents of Nora Jame.
Sylvia Cummings has given her notice and will move to Four Seasons sometime soon. Sylvia, we will miss you and hope you keep in touch after your move. The word is there are two empty apartments on the second floor and two more on the third floor will be available soon. People are on the move.
It is a quiet week thus far but I’m told of all the debris around the streets from the storm of July 5. I don’t ever remember it raining as hard and long as I do on that day. Maggie Kennedy, cousin of Joyce Bryant, was a visitor at Ricker a few days ago.
For my angel verse: “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the bed be blest that I lie on. Four angels to my bed, four angels round my head, one to watch, and one to pray, and two to hear my soul away. (Thomas Ady) Have a wonderful and safe week.
