THE PRESQUE ISLE SNOWMOBILE CLUB was just one of nearly 40 organizations or businesses present for the vendor fair at last year’s TAKE FLIGHT event. Some sold food or craft items, while others distributed information on services. Vendors are being sought for this year’s event Saturday, Oct. 4.

The resounding success of the first ever TAKE FLIGHT in Presque Isle has organizers and others in the region buzzing about the second annual event, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Northern Maine Regional Airport.
Plans are well underway to grow the event that is part air show, part community festival, part recognition of the economic development benefit the airport brings to the Aroostook County community, part awareness building about the area’s outstanding emergency medical air transport services, and all about celebrating healthy living.
A number of community organizations, including lead partners with the Northern Maine Regional Airport, Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce and TAMC, have been working for months at planning 2014’s TAKE FLIGHT. Several new additions are planned including a PenAir-sponsored 5K run/walk on the runway, additional aviation attractions, and more.
Many of the popular attractions from last year will return including a plane parade, scenic fall foliage flights, helicopter fly-ins, and demonstrations by TAMC’s Crown Critical Care Transport Team. TAMC will also host a community health fair in the large commercial aviation hangar featuring a flu shot clinic and more than 40 health exhibits.
Event planners are looking for non-profit organizations, local businesses, food vendors, crafters and others to create a festival-like environment for attendees. There is no cost for vendors to participate. Vendor participation forms can be downloaded from the TAMC website at www.tamc.org by clicking on the TAKE FLIGHT icon. For more information or to have a form sent by mail, call 768-4044. Space will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
