Late surge carries Warriors past Hodgdon

HODGDON, Maine — A day after celebrating Christmas, boys basketball squads from Southern Aroostook and Hodgdon were back in action in a well-attended game.

 

The visiting Warriors (5-1) outscored Hodgdon 17-6 in the final eight minutes to break open what had otherwise been a tight game Dec. 26. The Warriors led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Hodgdon rallied in the second cutting the lead to 31-29 at the half. Southern Aroostook was on top 47-40 after three periods of action and went on to win 64-46.

Southern Aroostook’s Jacob Brooks was red-hot from behind the 3-point arc as he sank seven 3-pointers on the evening, including three in the fourth quarter alone, to finish with 22 points on the night. 

Xavier Morales added 11 points for the Warriors, while Hunter Burpee had nine, Chris Caswell eight, Graham Siltz six, Gunner Siltz four and Camden Porter and Brett Williams both had two.

For Hodgdon (2-5), Josh Foster tallied 14 points, Dameon Sanders added 13, Walker Oliver had 10, Collin Caron four, Tristan Jackman three and Colton Folsom two.
