From the Bunkers – Week of June 15, 2022

This is the final week for all local schools, and that means Junior Golf has kicked off another season. This year, we have had a great group of kids turn out to learn golf.

The first day will be Monday, June 20, at 8 a.m. Golfers will meet at the clubhouse for registration. Please note through August the course will be closed on Mondays from 8-11:30 a.m. to allow the next generation of golfers to play and learn at their own pace. There are still some spots available, so call Dave Grant at 538-8333 to sign up any child age 6 or older.  If you don’t have any kids’ golf clubs, don’t worry about it.  We’ve got that covered too.

On Friday, June 17, the course will be closed from 9-1:30 p.m. as we welcome the local Shriners.

Wednesday, July 15, will be the final day for Golf For Life. This year we had 42 golfers complete the program. They learned everything from driving, chipping, putting, and course etiquette. The first Golf For Life Scramble will be held Sunday, July 10. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. and play starts at 1 p.m. These are great events allowing participants to meet and play with members.

The landscaping committee has been out working on the golf course, and it truly shows. The gardens have been weeded, freshly mulched and many flowers have been planted.  The course looks amazing thanks to this group of volunteers made up of Liz Anderson, Sharon O’Donnell and Harriet Gray.

On the topic of volunteers, we’d like to give credit to Randy Lincoln, who has practically been a full time volunteer at the course this spring.  Thanks for all of your help Randy!

The next two tournaments are the Mucho Moolah 2 Person Scramble in Memory of Dewey Dewitt June 25, and the Alumni Scramble July 9. Make sure to sign up today with the clubhouse by calling 532-2662.

The Lakeside Restaurant is open for lunch Fridays and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Dinner schedule is Wednesdays-Saturdays, 4-8 p.m. (last seating).  The ever popular Sunday Brunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (last seating). Please call Nancy at 207-694-9494 to book your reservation.
