HOULTON, Maine – Katahdin Bankshares Corp. (OTCQX: KTHN), the parent company of Katahdin Trust Company, a community bank founded in 1918 serving northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions, has announced that it has been named one of American Banker’s Top 200 Community Banks in the United States based on financial performance for the third consecutive year.

Jon Prescott, president and chief executive officer of Katahdin Trust, stated, “It is truly an honor to lead a Top 200 community bank. This recognition is a reflection of our financial strength and commitment to the local communities that we serve. This would not be possible without our team of dedicated employees and loyal customers throughout Maine.”

The Top 200 rating is based on a three-year average return on average equity of all publicly traded banks and thrifts in the United States with less than $2 billion in assets. Katahdin ranked 91st on the list of top performers with an average ROAE for 2019-21 of 12.18 percent.

American Banker magazine published the list as part of its May issue.
