CARIBOU, Maine — Cary Medical Center is pleased to announce Timothy Goff as the hospital’s new chief marketing and community relations officer. Goff, a seasoned communications professional and community leader, most recently served as town manager in Fort Fairfield and brings a wealth of experience in media, public relations, and civic engagement to his new role.
With nearly two decades in television news as a reporter, photographer and anchor across various markets in Maine, Goff has built a career centered on storytelling, public trust and service.
“Telling stories and helping people in need are two of my life’s passions,” stated Goff. “To have the opportunity to do both for an organization as committed to the community and caring as Cary Medical Center truly is a dream job and an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I look forward to working with our entire team to promote the amazing work being done here, to help educate our community about many health related topics and services, and to continue to work to find ways and access resources to improve the lives of residents throughout Aroostook County.”
Goff graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1994 and set out following his dream to be a journalist. He attended the University of Maine Presque Isle, Laval University, New England School of Communications, Husson College and the University of Maine in Orono. He began his media career as a photojournalist with WLBZ-TV in Bangor before moving to sister station WCSH-TV in Portland, where he spent 16 years covering stories from across the state and the nation.
“Working in television and being able to tell the stories of Mainers locally and throughout the country was an experience that was transformative,” he explained. “I had the chance to meet so many people, from all walks of life, and share their stories and learn from them. I gained a tremendous amount of respect for people who persevered against the odds and empathy for those who experienced profound loss. I saw people on their best days and their worst days and grew so much from that opportunity.”
In 2014, Goff moved back to Aroostook County to raise his family and to work for his hometown. As the marketing and economic development director for the Town of Fort Fairfield, he worked on grants, business development and events. In 2017, he joined Machias Savings Bank as a branch manager.
“Economic development in rural communities is difficult, even in the best of circumstances,” explained Goff. “Machias Savings Bank gave me an incredible opportunity to learn about business and finance from the lender’s perspective. They provided a chance for me to grow my knowledge about business banking, personal finance, and the banking industry while also working on my leadership skills. I remain indebted to them and their team for all they invested in me that have helped me grow my skillset.”
Goff was named Fort Fairfield’s town manager in 2023, helping lead the community as it recovered from a financial crisis.
“Being able to lead my hometown and work with our dedicated team of department heads and staff was humbling,” he said. “Municipal government is a challenging environment to work in, but I am proud of the significant improvements we were able to make to put the town back on a solid financial footing and move forward.”
When Cary Medical Center’s long-time Chief Marketing and Public Relations Officer Bill Flagg, retired, the opportunity to continue Flagg’s legacy of community engagement was too enticing to pass up.
“I’ve known Tim his whole life and have watched him grow into a dynamic leader,” said Kris Doody, RN, CEO of Cary Medical Center. “His background in storytelling, combined with his deep-rooted connection to the County and his passion for service, make him a perfect fit for this role. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Cary family.”
