AR Gould names senior physician executive

Northern Light AR Gould Hospital has announced that Dr. Stacy Jandreau of Caribou has been named the new senior physician executive (also known as chief medical officer) for the hospital.

“Dr. Jandreau’s depth of experience, passion for medicine, and strong connection to our practitioners and the region make her the perfect fit for this position,” hospital president Jay Reynolds said.

Reynolds served in the role for many years prior to becoming president.

Jandreau has worked in the emergency department at AR Gould Hospital for 27 years. In addition to her clinical duties, she has previously served as both a department chair and as president of the medical staff.

“I stepped back from an administrative role several years ago, so I could focus more on both clinical and family time,” Jandreau said. “I’m at a different point in my life now, and I am excited to be taking on a larger role in local and system medical group leadership.”

Jandreau is particularly pleased that she will be splitting administrative responsibilities with clinical duties in the emergency department. She appreciates the balance, as she is not yet ready to leave her direct patient care role entirely.

While she is still getting settled into the new position, she notes two areas she is particularly passionate about leading positive change in.

“We have such a deep degree of specialties here, especially for a rural area, but access to those services can be a challenge,” Jandreau said. “We need to continue to work toward improving access as well as making sure people, including our own doctors, truly understand the services available to them here.”

Her second passion involves building better relationships within the medical team.

“We need to better understand each other’s strengths, so we can better assist each other,” she said. “We need more personal interactions so we can make stronger connections.”

Jandreau completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Dartmouth College and her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at Albany Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
