Houlton – Duane P. Knapp, 53, died unexpectedly Feb. 2, 2008, at his residence. He was born June 8, 1954, at Houlton, the son of Allan M. And Dawn (Shields) Knapp.
Duane attended Hodgdon Schools and was a graduate of Hodgdon High School. After high school Duane joined the US Army. He was a local butcher for many years at County Yankee Grocer. Duane enjoyed music his whole life, learning to play the piano at a very young age.
He is survived by his mother of Houlton; his daughter, Tara Knapp, and one grandson, Edward Tristan both of Weatherford, TX; two brothers, David Knapp and his wife Kim of Florida, Perry Knapp of Hodgdon; four sisters, Alice Lindsay of Hodgdon, Judy Putnam and her husband Leigh of Amity, Betty Marshall of Ludlow, Charlotte Lightbody and her husband Gary of Hodgdon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and his sister Lorraine Knapp.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home Thursday, 12 Noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in the North Amity Cemetery in the spring.
