PRESQUE ISLE – The Presque Isle Middle School eighth grade girls’ blue basketball team, lead by coach Mike Patenaude, won the Aroostook League title for the 2007-’08 season with a perfect 9-0 league record and 13-0 season record.

Kayla Richards led team scoring with 209 points. Richards performed the role of leader and general both on and off the court. Kathryn Patenaude, co-captain with Richards, utilized her tenacious defense, timely scoring and passing prowess to aid the team toward their pristine record.
Casey Bonville and Claire Cheney also broke the 100-point mark with 153 and 101 points, respectively.
Jessica Theriault led the blue offensive attack in the point guard position with key ball-handling skills. Energizing players off the bench included Elsie Jones, Kelsey Buck and Brittany Caron to help the team achieve the championship title.
“I’m very proud of this teams’ accomplishments,” said Patenaude. “They were determined and hard working. They knew how to have a lot of fun and how to show great sportsmanship.”
