The Limestone Selectpeople met recently to receive an update from Crown Ambulance Service as well as the Revitalization Committee.    Jim McKenney, EMT-P, senior manager for Crown Ambulance Service spoke with the board to dispel any rumors about Crown Ambulance going out of business as well as rumors that The Aroostook Medical Center is currently unhappy with the service Crown Ambulance provides.
According to McKenney these are just rumors. McKenney explained to the board that the City of Presque Isle has hired a consultant to look into the feasibility of Presque Isle going to a city owned ambulance service. McKenney also informed the board that no decision had been made by the city at this time.
McKenney also stated that he looked forward to providing continued service to the Town of Limestone.
Arthur Thompson, Limestone Revitalization Committee chairman appeared before the board to give an update on the committee’s recommendations.
According to Thompson the committee recommends hiring a full time position of Chamber/Community Development Director. The position would be the only necessary position for the new department as a part time secretary would not be needed. This would be a department of the town, and the Chamber/Community Development Director would report directly to Donna Bernier, Limestone town manager. This would involve putting the Limestone Development Foundation on hiatus until it is needed. Thompson noted that it would not mean dissolving the foundation, but simply putting it on pause for awhile.
Selectperson Paul Poitras recommended calling a budget committee meeting to get members input, and to further discuss the matter at the next selectpeople’s meeting.
The next meeting of the Limestone Selectpeople will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. in the municipal building conference room.
