Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry relocating

The Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry, currently located in the rear of the Powers Theater building on Sweden Street, is moving to a new home. Effective March 3, the Pantry’s new facility address will be 46 Herschel Street.     The pantry has been serving our neighbors in the local area for ten years from our current location,” said Jessica Feeley, the pantry’s coordinator. “Just in the past year we have seen a large increase in the numbers we generally serve. As our communities’ needs have grown, so has our need for space.”
“The new location also has more room for parking. This will make it easier to keep traffic moving around clients’ arrivals and departures while they are picking up their food,” Feeley added.
In order to facilitate the move, the CEFP Board has voted to close the pantry after the regular service hours on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and reopen at the new location on Tuesday, March 3. This will allow the food to be crated and ferried over to the new location, freezers to be defrosted and reset and shelves will need to be set up and stocked. Volunteers, trucks and trailers have been lined up in order to accomplish this effort.
Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry is open and serves low-income residents of Caribou, Conner, Perham, Wade, Washburn and Woodland. Prospective clients should call 493-4860 between 10 – 11 mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of each month. Food is then picked up that day
