St. John Valley employers had always had to travel to other parts of The County to recruit, so chamber members decided to try to pair workers with jobs closer to home.
As part of the inaugural All Shire’s Eve Witches Walk that began just before sunset at Riverfront Park in downtown Houlton, about 50 or so witches, warlocks and other goblins walked through the wooded trail.
The next Edgemore Woods haunted walks in Woodland will take place Nov. 1 and 2 from 6 to 10 p.m.
The event is scheduled for Nov. 8-10, and is co-hosted by Shiretown Gaming and the Houlton Unitarian Church.
The event on Saturday, Nov. 2, will feature a variety of employers from northern and central Aroostook County.
Within minutes of the 10 a.m. opening, hundreds filled Caribou High School’s gymnasium and cafeteria, eyeing crafts from 137 vendors.

The craft fair will take place at the St. David Church Hall on 774 Main Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Oct. 12 and 13. Proceeds from the fair will support the church’s youth ministry.
