Madawaska native looking for third Grammy – When the Grammy Awards aired this evening in 1999 on national television, at least one St. John Valley family will be watching with more than casual interest. With roots firmly planted in Madawaska — he was born on 5th Avenue — Roland White and his bluegrass band are up for their third musical award.

Caribou included in the World’s Fair — Caribou will be one of the Maine towns which will have an exhibit as the World’s Fair at St. Louis this year. W. E. Crockett of the Caribou Woolen Mill is getting ready a display of yarns which he will send to this exposition.

Maude Moring named most senior citizen — Maude Moring, born in 1917, was named the town’s “Most Senior Citizen” by the Ste-Agathe Historical Society and was presented a golden cane Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Montfort Heights.
