Caron, Pelkey top of bowling tourney

    PRESQUE ISLE – After seven strings of bowling, Alice Caron defeated Tom Pelkey to win the 7th annual Al Reeves Memorial Tournament at Northern Lanes on April 12. Caron bowled a 125 over Pelkey’s 119 in the final round.

    The tournament is held every year in memory of Dr. Alvin F. Reeves, an avid bowler, mentor and role model. This year’s tournament hosted two divisions split by averages. Each division bowled five strings.
    Division one totals follow: Pelkey 671, Moe Collins 661, Dave Donahue 657, Michael Lee 646, Roger St. Pierre 642, Ray Miller 637, Craig Trombley 636, Jim Kennedy 632, Chuck Fletcher 622, Fred Osgood 608, Frank Labbe 601, Danny Dyer 593, Dave Caron, Sr. 591, George Michaels 591, Leonard Curtis 591, Larry Little 588, Maurice Beals 583, Harlow Smith 570 and Craig Nickerson 562.
    Division two totals follow: Caron 632, Tonya Rasmussen 626, Nelson Michaud 624, Ed Curtis 611, Marion Donahue 609, Charlie Mountain 608, Ruby LaFrance 604, Norma LaFrance 604, Mike Ireland 599, Annie Michaud 594, Ken Reeves 590, Carol Reeves 588, Jodi Nickerson 588, Woody Jewell 576, Joann Nickerson 563, Larry Reeves 555, Sue Topping 552 and Dana Crory 551.
    The top four of each division bowled for a spot in the final round.
