Boston Marathoners
    Three area runners completed the 112th Boston Marathon on Monday. Evan Graves, of Easton, came in 51st overall with a time of 2:29:39. Jeff Ashby, of Fort Fairfield, finished in 338th overall with a time of 2:46:55. Rene Laliberty, of Caribou, came in 7,842nd overall with a time of 3:38:23.
Athlete of the week
    The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Ben Picard and Allison Dean for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of April 7-12.
    Picard has secured the number-two singles position for the boy’s tennis team. Dean has shown her leadership on the girls’ tennis team.
    Her hard work and positive attitude during the team’s pre-season workouts have been examples for her teammates to follow.
UMPI events
    A kayak roll session to teach safety skills and techniques will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at the Gentile Hall pool.
    Admission is free for UMPI students and members and $5 for everyone else. For more information, call 768-9401.
    Climbing nights will be offered now through May at UMPI’s Gentile Hall. Climbing nights will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 5th.
    No experience is required. Please wear something comfortable to move in (no shorts permitted).
    There is no cost for members. $10 fee for non-members.
ATV safety course
    The Star City ATV Club is sponsoring a two day ATV safety course on May 9 and 10 at the Presque Isle Police Department. Hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. on the 9th and 8 a.m. to noon on the 10th.
    The course is limited to 15 people so pre-registration is recommended.
    Students from 10 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The fee is $5. For more information, call 764-8313 or 488-9605 in the evenings.
AWA Pro Wrestling
    AWA Pro Wrestling presents “Super Clash at the Forum” on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. with the doors opening at 7 p.m.
    Advance general admission tickets are only $10. Front row tickets are $15, and are only available in advance.
    Advance tickets are available at the Forum and Industrial St. One-Stop in Presque Isle, Dead River Food Trend in Caribou, York’s Bookstore in Houlton and Ezzy’s Music Shop in Van Buren. Tickets are also available at the door for $13.
