PAUL ELISH, a sophomore at Presque Isle High School, recently won the Poetry Out Loud competition for PIHS. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Poetry Foundation have joined together to create Poetry Out Loud, a program that encourages the nation’s youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. Elish competed in his Gifted and Talented class against four other contestants and will be representing PIHS at the northern regionals in Orono Feb. 12.
