Hodgdon High School Senior Award Night

On Wednesday, June 3, 2009, Hodgdon High School had its Senior Awards Night. Guidance Director, Mrs. Bernadette Willette opened the program.
    Principal, Mr. Clark Rafford, presented the Honor Parts Medallions to the top five students: Molly McGuire, Taylor Hovey, Matthew Raccuglia, Dayna Tidd and Brianna Hanington. District librarian, Ms. Regina McCombs, presented the Honor Parts Books, which are donated to the high school library in honor of these same five students and Michelle Raccuglia, number six. Superintendent, Mr. Robert McDaniel, gave Student Focus Group Awards to Katelyn Duff and Jessica Guy. Mr. Brian Fitzpatrick gave the Daughters of the American Revolution award to Brianna Hanington.
The following students were given academic awards by members of the faculty: Matthew Raccuglia for College Senior Math, Michelle Raccuglia for English and Matthew Raccuglia and Cody Hand for Senior Review Math.
Mrs. Kara Wright gave the senior JMG certificates to: Eric Carpenter, Lacey Codrey, Katelyn Duff, Callie Foster, Jessica Guy, Jennifer Goodale, Katie Jo Hall, Cody Hand, Brianna Hanington, Renee Hemingway, Taylor Hovey, Nikki Hughes, Chelsea Kervin, Emily Lee, Samantha Lycette, LaceyAnne Mailman, Dillon McGuire, Kelley Suitter, Sarah Toner, Dayna Tidd and Chelsea White.
Mrs. Wright also gave a certificate for Excellence in Community Service to Brianna Hanington.
Mrs. Kelley Ellis gave the senior music certificates to Alayna Acott and LaceyAnne Mailman.
Athletic Director, Mr. Bradley Chiasson gave the senior athletic placques to Eric Barton, Katelyn Duff, Morgan Hall, Cody Hand, Samantha Lycette, LaceyAnne Mailman, Joshua Murchie, Travis Quint, James Ryan and Dayna Tidd. He then presented the Les Collier Award to Taylor Hovey.
Principal Rafford presented the Wendy Heisman Awards to Taylor Hovey and Joshua Murchie; the National Association of Secondary School’s Principal’s Leadership Award to Molly McGuire. He then introduced the Dollars for Scholars part of the program by giving a short history of the Houlton-Hodgdon Chapter of Dollars for Scholars.
Mr. Malcolm Nesbitt, co-chair of the Meduxnekeag Canoe Race, gave the canoe race awards to: Michelle Raccuglia, $300; Matthew Raccuglia, $300; Callie Foster, $100 and James Ryan, $210.
Mr. Brian Fitzpatrick gave the $200 MSAD 70 Teachers’ Association to Lacey Codrey. He then gave $100 from the class of 2010 to Alayna Acott.
Mr. Bradley Chiasson gave $100 from the class of 2011 to Sarah Toner and $100 from the class of 2012 to Callie Foster.
Mrs. Kara Wright gave $100 from the class of 2009 to Cody Hand and $100 in memory of Robert Armstrong, from this class, to Chelsea White. She gave the Rotary Scholarships of $400 each to Dayna Tidd and Katelyn Duff; $100 from the National Honor Society to Molly McGuire and $100 from JMG to Brianna Hanington.
Mr. James Griffin presented $500 to Dayna Tidd on behalf of the Houlton Regional Hospital staff.
The rest of the Dollars for Scholars money was distributed by chapter members, Mr. Clark Rafford and Mrs. Bernadette Willette, as follows:

Mr. Clark Rafford transitioned the group from Dollars to Scholars to the local scholarship monies. He presented the $500 Harvest Scholarship to Renee Hemingway; the $250 Chester L. Briggs Post #47 Scholarship to Alayna Acott; the $200 Roy Watson Memorial Scholarship to Ethan Roberts and the $200 Mill Pond Student Council Scholarship in memory of Robert Armstrong to Thomas Brewer.
Mrs. Kim London Paige presented the $200 scholarship in memory of the deceased members of the class of 1988, Craig Lincoln, Kim Nadeau, Roger Nason and Lenny Shields, to Travis Quint.
Mr. Ebbie Merritt presented his father’s memorial scholarship of $100 each to Katelyn Duff and Cody Hand.
Ms. Audrey Zimmerman presented the $500 Louis Wirta Memorial Art Scholarship, named for her husband, to Callie Foster.
Mr. and Mrs. David Croft presented two $300 scholarships, in memory of Susan’s nephew, Robert Armstrong, to Taylor Hovey and Brianna Hanington.
Mr. Bradley Chiasson presented the $300 Helen Lyndsay Ingraham Scholarship to Michelle Raccuglia.
Mr. George Harris gave $150 each to Cody Hand and Taylor Hovey, on behalf of the Glen Strange Memorial/Sports Booster Club.
Mr. Paul Harrison gave $500 from the Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club to Morgan Hall.
Mr. Malcolm Nesbitt gave the Maine State Environthon of $2,000 to James Ryan.
Mrs. Kara Wright gave the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and JMG Scholarship of $1,000 to Taylor Hovey.
Mrs. Christie Fitzpatrick gave the $1,000 4-H Scholarship to Brianna Hanington.
Mr. James Griffin gave the $1,000 Health Services Foundation to Taylor Hovey.
Mrs. Bernadette Willette gave the following scholarships to James Ryan; $1,000 K & T Fire Equipment, $1,000 Tom and Suzanne York and $1,300 York Family Fund. She then presented $2,000 each from Early College of Maine to Cody Hand and Chelsea White; the $1,000 Machias Savings Bank Scholarship to Brianna Hanington; The $1,500 Maine Masonic Grand Lodge Scholarship to Samantha Lycette and the $1,000 Houlton Water Company Scholarship to Jennifer Goodale.
Sister Peggy Walsh presented $5,350, renewable for four years, each to Alayna Acott, Eric Barton, Thomas Brewer, Katelyn Duff, Brianna Hanington, Emily Lee, Samantha Lycette, Brian McEwen, Joshua Murchie, Travis Quint, Michelle Raccuglia, Kelley Suitter and Sarah Toner.
Mr. Clark Rafford presented the Northern Maine Community College Presidential Scholarship of $1,000 to Chelsea Putnam; the Key Bank—Mitchell Scholarship of $1,000 to Brianna Hanington; the Liberty University Alumnae Scholarship of $2,000 to Dayna Tidd; the National JMG Scholarship of $1,000 to Dayna Tidd; and the UMO Distinguished Scholarships of $8,200 each to Molly McGuire and Brianna Hanington.
Mr. Rafford then closed the program.
