Eight Caribou Middle School students were recently recognized for being selected as January Students of the Month. The students in grades five through eight are selected by their teachers in their respective grades.
Brittany Dickinson
Brittany Dickinson was named January Student of the Month for the fifth-grade “Brainiacs” team, by her teachers Mrs. Cindy Levasseur and Mrs. Nella Ouellette.
The CMS instructors stated, “Brittany has a persevering work ethic that is very obvious in the classroom. The responsibility that she assumes and the quality of her work have made her a highest honor roll student. Brittany is a very polite, pleasant student and is kind to other and is a pleasure to know.” They teachers also said Brittany is an active participant in the CMS strings, where she plays the violin.
Meg Boone
Meg Boone, a member of the grade-five “Explorers” team was selected by her teachers Mrs. Deede Duncan and Mrs. Jola Hebert as their January Student of the Month saying, “Meg contributes many qualities to the team. She has a great work ethic and strives for perfection. She has a great sense of humor and is a team player.”
The fifth-grader’s teachers also stated, “Meg plays in the band and loves to ski. She is always sharing stories and experiences that enhance our class. We enjoy her on our team and feel she has made a wonderful adjustment to the middle school and will continue to be very successful.”
Kelsey Kiehm
Kelsey Kiehn, is the January Student of the Month for the sixth-grade team the “Super-sixers.” Her teachers, Mrs. Jen Quinlan and Ms. Sarah LaJoie stated, “Kelsey puts forth her best effort every single day and is a pleasure to have in the classroom. Her cheerful and outgoing personality make her well-liked by her peers as well. Kelsey is kind to everyone and is always respectful to both classmates and her teachers.”
The CMS teachers also said, “Kelsey often volunteers to participate in a class discussion or lead a group project. Outside of the classroom, Kelsey is an active member of the CMS band, chorus, show choir and a dedicated Student Organization representative for her homeroom.”
Kelsie Washington
Kelsie Washington, a sixth-grade member of the “Six-ceeder,” team, was named January Student of the Month by CMS teachers Mrs. Ruth Dionne, Mrs. Cathy Bouchard and Mr. John Pelletier. The team teachers stated, “Kelsie is a high honor student who is extremely busy with extra curricular activities. She is a member of the cross-country team, recreation cheerleading, takes piano lessons and is a member of the Maine Dance Academy in both pointe and dance.”
The teachers continued, “Kelsie is a very outgoing and friendly young lady who is never too busy to help someone in need. Her thoughtfulness and compassion toward others was obvious when she recently took a new student with a serious illness under her wing. Kelsie not only helped her feel welcome in a new school but also kept in touch with her outside of school during her recovery. As teachers, we are very impressed with the kindness she shows to her peers.”
Kris Michaud
Kris Michaud was selected January Student of the Month for his grade-seven class by teachers Mrs. Kim Barnes, Mrs. Mary Curtis, Mr. Steve Perreault, Ms. Shelly Richardson and Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt.
The Caribou Middle School teachers stated, “Kris is a well-rounded student who participates in band and is a student in the Gifted and Talented Program. He is a talented writer, an avid read and is an exemplary student, always prepared for class. A good friend to others, Kris always has a kind word and is very deserving of this recognition.”
Emmna Jandreau
Emma Jandreau, a seventh-grade student at the Caribou Middle School was recognized as the January Student of the Month by her teachers, Mrs. Kim Barnes, Mrs. Mary Curtis, Mr. Steve Perreault, Ms. Shelly Richardson and Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt.
The CMS teachers stated, “Emma is a pleasure to have in class and takes great pride in her work. She is very active in every aspect of CMS. She is a member of the soccer team, band, chorus, show choir and the Student Organization and is also greatly involved in the Maine Dance Academy. Emma is very helpful and trustworthy and can be seen helping out others around the classroom.”
Samantha Adams
Samantha Adams, a member of the eighth grade at Caribou Middle School was named January Student of the Month by her teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Rand, Mr. Ralph Fantasia, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mrs. Shannon Sleeper and Mrs. Jessica Dow. These teachers said, “Sam is an excellent student who has taken great strides in her education. She has been a wonderful leader in the classroom and on the athletic field. Sam has been a pleasure to have in class and students model their behavior around her because she demonstrates effective and appropriate student qualities.”
Samantha’s teacher also stated, “Sam has had outstanding grades throughout the school year she couples that with her athletic ability where she participates in soccer, basketball and is a member of the Maine Dance academy. She also plans on participating in softball and tennis this spring.”
Keith Drapers
Keith Drapers, an eighth-grade student, was recognized as Caribou Middle School’s January Student of the Month by his teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Rand, Mr. Ralph Fantasia, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mrs. Shannon Sleeper and Mrs. Jessica Dow.
The grade-eight teachers stated, “Keith is a pleasure to have in class, is very kind to his peers and is always eager to help other students and his teachers. Keith is very active in extra curricular activities including cross-country running, skiing and tennis. He is also a member of the CMS Developmental Assets Team and participates in Boy Scouts of America.”
